His work became widely know in the mid 2000's when the book 'Ocean' was published - which later toured Scandinavia, France, Poland, Italy and USA. The book was shortlisted for Best Photobook in Arles 2009 and received the honorable Best Photobook prize in Sweden the same year.
Purpose/Genre: These images are a documentary of what teenage boys in Sweden do in their spare time.
The following images are taken from his series 'Tractor Boys'
This image's main focus is a forest, it's overall a very dark photo with some light coming from behind the trees, there is a large depth of field however nothing is in focus and this implies a bad feeling with in the picture and maybe something good is behind the trees, this is a simple narrative but fairly common in photos. The photo is very loosely using a couple rules of composition, some faint leading lines are visible on a track going towards the forest. Bogren hasn't quite used the rule of thirds but it is obvious that he has composed the image with a foreground (to get the leading lines in frame) and has filled the rest of the frame with the tree which just touch the top on the frame making it feel like they are towering in a threatening way, further implying the narrative.
