UNIT 31.1: Lidia Giusto

Lidia Giusto currently lives in Genova, Italy. Her personal project of Urban Exploration has been going for over 10 years. Giusto will use an analog camera for taking pictures and a digital camera for studying lights and frames.

Photos are taken from her series 'The Dark Room of My Mind'

This is a black and white photo of a corridor with a window at the end. The overall picture is very dark with the only light coming from the window, this could represent the narrative of the image and the name of the series as possibly her mind is all dark and the only light (good) is at the end of a long corridor. This photo makes use of the three main composition rules, a frame within a frame being the window, the floor of the corridor acts as leading lines toward the window that's in the middle third of the image, the walls make up the two thirds either side of it.

Purpose/Genre: Judging by the name of the series and dark/quiet style of the images, I'd say that the purpose of these photos are a metaphor of how she feels, possible depressed and empty. However these photos woulds also come under the genre of urban exploration which would make them partly documentary.
